  • In-Between: 2023 Review

Hey, lovely listeners! In this week’s episode, you're about to embark on a ride through my 2023 shenanigans – the good, the not-so-good, and the ugly-good (is that thing?). Picture this: not a single one of my “BIG 3” goals were met this year – HA.

I spill the beans on my plan at the start of the year and how life went, "Oh, you thought!" From tackling job aspirations, house-hunting woes, podcast growth, and losing Luna (talk about a “end of the year” implosion), I lay it all out with the heartfelt insight and comedic flair that is my life.

Through it all, I've discovered the magic of self-confidence, learned the value of perspective, and even adulted my way through setting up a new phone plan (cue the applause). Spoiler alert: adulting is still a scam.

2023 taught me how to survive and thrive on the unexpected curveballs.

So, here's to the lessons, the laughs, the wisdom gained, and the downright BS of the past year. 2024, I'm coming for you with my vision board in one hand and an espresso in the other. Buckle up, buttercups – The In-Between is going places!

  • In-Between: Butterfly Years & Parenting Advice with Momma Cindy

After a year and a half, I FINALLY brought on the myth, the legend, my mother,  Cindy Cheney! We cover a lot of ground in this week's in-between, from getting to know my mother and our relationship,  some pretty sound parenting advice, if I say so myself, and next year being our Butterfly Year. Momma Cindy has always represented what's good in the world, and I believe I wouldn't be doing this career if it weren't for her.

    In this week's episode:

    • Get to meet my mom and better understand our relationship
    • What it was like growing up with a single, handicap mother
    • The core pillars that defined her parenting, and her advice to other parents, soon-to-be parents, and the "one day" parents (trust me, I turned out pretty good, so she must have something right)
    • What's a butterfly year and why 2024 is ours
    • My mom's big time physical transformation
    • Tapping into your light
    • Reflecting on 2023 and what's to come

This episode is very special to me, as I am so lucky that I have a mother who supports me in this wild adventure. I hope you enjoy getting to know a little more about me and my biggest rock throughout every single one of life's in-betweens.

  • In-Between: Navigating Heavy Grief & A Tribute To Our Best Girl

In the two weeks since we last chatted, our beautiful, perfect baby girl, Luna, left us earthside. She was only 7. For those caught up with the pod, you know Luna was our pup, our child, one of our greatest sources of joy and now she's gone. After taking a few weeks to simply mourn, exist and process this grief, although I'm not at all over it,  I was ready to come back to the pod.

I promise this week's episode doesn't spiral into emotional rage. Instead, I wanted to talk about pet loss, loss in general, and grief, from what creates grief, navigating grief, managing so many conflicting and intense emotions at the same time, and what's been helping me during this unforeseen darkness and storm called grief.

    This week's episode covers:

    • Luna's passing (do not worry, there are no triggering details on her earthly exit, but moreso what we believe led us to this tragic outcome)
    • Managing your own guilt when dealing with grief
    • Navigating the storm of grief- do I run or do I sit with it? Spoiler alert: you weather the storm, one moment at a time
    • Things that have brought me comfort and peace . Community being one of the biggest pillars of support.
    • The grieving process in general
    • My 3 things I've learned the most about grief during this time

Grief is ultimately love. It's painfully beautiful that something so harsh and dark and empty exists because of love. That's what I focus on today. Grief is chronic, it stays with you. It changes you. In the words of new favorite person, Nora McInerny, "You don't move on. You move forward."

I hope this episode brings some comfort to you or someone you know who is currently navigating grief. I cannot thank you enough for giving me the time and space for myself and to be welcomed back with so much love. This is what The In-Between was created  for, to find purpose, community, and understanding of all the crazy, beautiful life stuff we experience. Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's weird, and sometimes it's painful. Together, we will get through.

This one's for you, Luna. I know you are with me now and forever, and will be with me as I build this community the way I always said. Thank you for finding us and  showing us how beautiful life and the world can be. Until you find us again, because I know you will, I love you, baby girl.

  • In-Between: Thanksgiving Boundaries

This week's episode is giving thanks and enforcing boundaries. As much as we'd like to think everyone is looking forward to the holidays with family, a lot of us are stressed to enter our dysfunctional family dynamic. In today's In-Between, I'm giving some advice and tips that I picked up from author, Nedra Glover Tawwab, on what you can do to protect your peace and maintain boundaries. If you'd like to read the article I cited in today's episode, you can find it here: https://www.theskimm.com/wellness/setting-boundaries.  I discuss three tips for establishing boundaries, so that you can ultimately keep your peace this holiday season.

I'm also giving you life updates, chats around the fall of Matt Rife, and all the exciting thing coming up. Look at on social media for more updates. *wink wink*

OOOH! And don't forget – The In-Between Vision Board Party IS happening January 6th!!! Stay tuned on my social for details and link to register.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  • In-Between: Putting All Your Eggs Into YOUR Basket

I know they say not to put all your eggs in one basket, but sometimes it's necessary. On this week's in-between, I'm talking about betting on you and putting said eggs all in the YOU basket. I'm also chatting about daylight savings time, upcoming collabs, why open enrollment and health insurance are a joke, and my first time experience with a Thai massage. Sometimes we need to treat ourselves and shouldn't' feel guilty about it. Join me on another in-between where I'm encouraging you to show up for yourself because life is hard enough already, make sure to love yourself in the process.

  • In-Between: My Productivity Hacks

I'm talking about productivity hacks on this week's in-between. We know there's a million plus ways to be more productive/ get more out of your day/ get better with your time management. If you're anything like me, you've read the articles, maybe even some books but still struggling to get it all together because information overload. This isn't a topic new to the pod, but in today's episode, I go more into what current habits/systems I'm trying to work on in relation to productivity and focus. I'm also going into the things that ARE actually working for me (for now). We're always a work in progress, and that's one of the many layers of life's beauty. LOL. Cheesy or not, this episode will make you giggle and possibly offer a tip or trick related to our good ole personal productivity.

  • In-Between: Embracing My Delulu Era

I'm back and scuba certified – LOL. This week's in-between is catching up on all the life stuff going on, filling you in on the scuba certification experience (I know that is the most random thing ever), the home search (iykyk *cries*), and some exciting guests I have planned for the coming weeks. I'm also (finally) embracing my "delulu girl" era, otherwise known as delusional confidence. Who says I can't? It doesn't matter as long as I say I can. Cheesiness aside, this week's in-between is talking about that delusional confidence and addressing the question, why do we struggle with the constant feelings of guilt and pressure to DO DO DO when we need a break? Why does productivity guilt interfere when we need alone time? Why is it that when we need rest, our mind's make us feel like we don't deserve it? I don't have the fool-proof solution or answer to these questions, but I think today's convo around them will help. Remember, the most important voice is the one you have with yourself.

Check out today's episode and embrace your delusional era too!

  • In-Between: Is it a weakness? Is it a strength? It’s all about perspective

It's been a week. Maybe you're like me and your heart is heavy. It took me a sec to record this week's episode.  It's ok to take a break, especially when things don't feel actually "ok". However, this is a safe space and a space for joy and entertainment, and in today's episode, a place to recognize what we may view as a weakness, may actually be a strength. I'm also giving you an update on the "buying a house" progress/process, and why I feel like an introvert extrovert… or is extrovert introvert?

Tune into an all new In-Between! If you are loving the show, please don't forget to like, subscribe, rate, and leave a review!

  • In-Between: Dog Drama & Grounding Yourself During the Chaos

First person POV show notes: Now that I'm back from Italy and recapped the trip on last week's episode, let's jump into how our world got turned upside down with our pup. I'm giving you all the deets on what went down with Luna – it was pretty traumatic, but in the word's of Kelly Clarkson – what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. *nervous laughter* With that happening, ya girl needed to ground herself. Life has literally been flipped since we got back into town, and I finally decided to do this mid-year goal check in. Well, in typical Liz fashion, I kept the tab opened and finally did it 3 months later LOL. So I'm calling it my 3/4 year check in. Jokes aside, this exercise really helped me, and i'm spilling all the tea in today's episode. Don't forget to rate this show, review, and follow wherever you listen to podcasts. Ooh!
